伊人直播 Veterinary Services Introduces Enhanced Brachyspira PCR Test
听
听伊人直播 Veterinary Services is pleased to announce an important update to our diagnostic capabilities: a new and improved听real-time PCR test for Brachyspira, launching in听late July/early August 2025.
This test replaces the long-standing 23s RNA PCR method and brings a host of benefits to veterinary diagnostics, particularly in swine and avian health.
What鈥檚 New?
The updated real-time PCR test offers:
- Targeted Detection: Accurately identifies four key pathogenic Brachyspira species:
- B. hyodysenteriae
- B. pilosicoli
- B. hampsonii
- B. suanatina
- Improved Specificity: Utilises two highly conserved genes, enhancing the precision of results.
- Quantitative Results: Real-time technology provides Ct values for detected species.
- Better Accuracy: Correctly identifies isolates that previously gave atypical results with the 23s RNA PCR.
- Selective Detection: Commensal Brachyspira species in pigs are not detected, reducing diagnostic noise.
Complementary Testing & Sample Handling
- Culture Adds Value:听Brachyspira culture remains vital for antibiotic sensitivity testing and sequencing for antimicrobial resistance genes; it is also necessary where identification of Brachyspira organisms other than the four main pathogenic species is required.
- No Change to Sample Submission: Continue using your current submission procedures.
- Flexible Sample Options: The test can be run on individual samples or pooled samples (up to 5 per pool).
- Unchanged Test Days: Scheduling remains the same for your convenience.
Broader Applications
While designed primarily for听porcine diagnostics, this test is also applicable to听avian diagnostics, particularly for detecting听B. pilosicoli. Note:听B. intermedia听is not detected by PCR but can be identified through culture.
The test is听ISO 17025 accredited听for pig samples, ensuring high standards of quality and reliability.
We鈥檙e committed to supporting your diagnostic needs with this enhanced testing service.
