PSGHS: Biosecurity at Shows and Sales
听
As you prepare to attend shows and sales, please remember these听important biosecurity rules.
Following them helps听protect your flock or herd听and听maintain your MV/CAE accreditation.
听
Before You Travel
- Accredited animals must听not mix听with non鈥慳ccredited animals.
- Do not transport accredited and non鈥慳ccredited animals together (unless there are solid partitions and separate ramps).
- Clean and disinfect听trailers, pens and crates听before use.
听
At Shows and Sales
- Keep accredited animals听separate at all times:
- Sheep: 2 metres.
- Goats: 3 metres.
- Or use a听solid barrier听(minimum 2m for sheep, 3m for goats).
- Shared airspace is only allowed for听short stays (up to 10 days).
- Animals must have a听current Health Status Report.

Reduce Disease Risk
- No听nose鈥憈o鈥憂ose contact听with non鈥慳ccredited animals.
- Do听not share equipment听or听tup taxis听with non-accredited animals. Tup taxis should be听thoroughly disinfected听between animals of differing health status.
- Do not house accredited and non鈥慳ccredited animals in the听same airspace.
- Do not graze accredited animals on fields used by non鈥慳ccredited stock in the听last 7 days.

Returning Home
Your animals will听lose accredited status听if:
- They had contact with non鈥慳ccredited animals, or
- Biosecurity rules were not followed.
If contact happens:
- Isolate the animal immediately.
- Testing and waiting periods will apply.
- Failure to follow rules can lead to听suspension of accreditation.
