PSGHS: Premises Check Forms – When and Why You Need to Complete One

Ìý

To maintain the integrity of theÌýPremium Sheep and Goat Health Scheme (PSGHS), all holdings where accredited animals are kept must meet the scheme’s biosecurity requirements. AÌýPremises Check Form, completed by your vet, is used to confirm this.

When do you need to complete a premises check form?

A premises check is required if you:

  • Are establishing a new flock or herd from accredited stock.
  • Have moved to a new premises.
  • Have added additional land or a new CPH.
  • Keep accredited sheep or goats on a holding other than your main holding.

A separate premises check is neededÌýfor every holding where accredited animals will be kept.

Ìý

Why is it important?

The premises check confirms that appropriateÌýbiosecurity, boundaries, separation from non‑accredited animals, and record‑keepingÌýare in place. Without a completed and signed form,Ìýhealth status certificates cannot be issued, and accredited status may be affected.

Ìý

What do you need to do?

  • Arrange a premises check with your vet.
  • Ensure the form is fully completed and signed by both you and your vet.
  • Return it to ÒÁÈËÖ±²¥ Health Schemes.

Ìý

Ideally checks should be completedÌýbefore accredited animals arrive, especially when setting up a new flock or herd.

If you’re unsure whether a premises check is required, please contact the ÒÁÈËÖ±²¥ Health Schemes team or refer to the guidance on the ÒÁÈËÖ±²¥ website.
